UC San Diego Prototypes and Mockups

UC San Diego: Coursework and Projects

Here are a few highlights from courses I completed online with UC San Diego via Coursera. These included user research, interviews, storyboards, personas, prototypes and mockups. I followed a standard design process of brainstorming, ideation, decide, prototype and test.

App Design: AwwPawz (promote brushing of teeth with teens)

This app design was inspired by struggles with my own teenagers. I interviewed them, researched behavior by other teenagers and activities and orthodontic offices. I created storyboards, prototypes, wireframes and app mockups.

Prototype #2:

Designing, Running and Analyzing Experiments:

Develop and conduct interviews with users then analyze data using R and create graphs and charts from results. I can’t show the actual results due to privacy reasons. I interviewed multiple people about transportation. Here is a storyboard mockup for one of the ideas I generated based on the interviews:

Storyboard based on user interviews about electric cars and public safety

Design Research & Prototyping: This course included interviews, research, creating personas and prototypes.

Inch to Wall Mockup: Account for Tiny and Large Device Sizes.

Goal: Optimize Amazon Prime playlist change and realistic related tasks at watch and wall sizes. For this device size I needed to pick a task and related gestures or features to get the task done. I chose swipe and tab gestures. Alternatives would have been voice commands or physical button/toggle options on the device itself. Watches are very personal devices but also public since we wear them on our wrists. Being tiny, the gestures had to work well for single finger use.
